When you know what you earn each month but need to state your package the way recruiters do, you have to express it in LPA — lakhs per annum. This tool annualises your monthly figure and converts it into lakhs.
The formula
The monthly amount is first multiplied out to a year, then divided by one lakh:
LPA = Monthly × 12 ÷ 1,00,000
For example, for a ₹50,000 gross monthly CTC:
- Annual = ₹50,000 × 12 = ₹6,00,000
- In LPA = ₹6,00,000 ÷ 1,00,000 = 6 LPA
When this helps
- Job applications — quote your current package in the LPA format forms expect.
- Recruiter calls — answer "what's your current CTC" in the standard unit.
- Comparisons — line up your monthly pay against LPA-quoted offers.
A caveat on what to include
Use your gross monthly CTC, not in-hand, so the resulting LPA matches how offers are written. If part of your compensation is a once-a-year bonus, do not multiply it by 12 — add it to the annual figure once instead, or it will inflate the package. To convert a package back into a monthly figure, use the LPA to monthly salary calculator, and to measure a raise use the salary hike percentage calculator. The CodeBegun career guides cover presenting your compensation during interviews.
