Job offers in India are usually quoted in LPA — lakhs per annum — but you probably budget in monthly terms. This tool converts an annual package into a gross monthly figure so you can compare offers against your everyday expenses.
The formula
One lakh is ₹1,00,000, so the package first becomes an annual rupee amount and is then split across 12 months:
Monthly (gross) = LPA × 1,00,000 ÷ 12
For example, for a 6 LPA package:
- Annual CTC = 6 × ₹1,00,000 = ₹6,00,000
- Monthly gross = ₹6,00,000 ÷ 12 = ₹50,000
When this helps
- Comparing offers — put an LPA figure into monthly terms you can weigh against rent and expenses.
- Budgeting — estimate the gross that lands each month before deductions.
- Quick conversions — translate a recruiter's LPA number on the spot.
A caveat on take-home
This is gross monthly CTC divided by 12, not in-hand salary. Provident fund, professional tax and income tax all reduce the amount that actually reaches your account, and variable pay may be paid quarterly or annually rather than monthly. Treat the result as the gross starting point. To convert a monthly figure back into an annual package, use the monthly salary to LPA calculator, and for comparing a raise use the salary hike percentage calculator. The CodeBegun career guides explain how to read a full CTC breakup.
